Tarla Makaeff

CREATIVE DIRECTOR/WRITER/FASHION DESIGNER/MODEL/ACTRESS/ACTIVIST

Tarla Makaeff is an American creative entrepreneur, consumer advocate, civil/human/animal rights activist, and champion for the underdog.  Tarla has achieved great success and awards for her businesses but she considers her greatest impact to date that which she hopes to continue to make in contribution to her fellow humankind. She started her venture into helping others when she began volunteering as a hospital candy striper as a child and then at Make-A-Wish as an adult, the need to help not only encouraged by her mother’s compassionate ways but also by her own experience of having a Big Sister when she was a child.

As a fashion designer, she has had the opportunity to attend and participate in events benefiting organizations such as the Susan G. Komen for The Cure and GLAAD (Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation), among many others, and believes philanthropy should always be the end result of artistic expression.

Today, she firmly believes more than ever in organizations designed to empower the helpless both in the United States and abroad, including children, women, the elderly and many more without a voice.  She advocates for consumer/civil rights as well as human/animal rights and strongly supports nonprofit organizations such as Amnesty International, the Los Angeles Mission, the American Civil Liberties Union, Save The Children, and the Humane Society. She believes in order to create a better world, all living in it must take personal responsibility and stand up against injustice to protect those who are victimized.  She documents these messages and ways to get involved on her public Facebook page where you can post on her wall.

Tarla also believes in these difficult times that a positive mindset is needed globally to overcome the challenges millions are facing whether hunger, abuse, loss of shelter, loss of income, or more. Through her spiritual and religious beliefs, she knows that all things can be overcome with faith. She tweets daily with quotes on positivity for all aspects of one’s life from the anonymous to the famous leaders of our times and generations past. She invites you to follow her on Twitter to enhance your outlook on life with a daily dose of vitamin C.
